All right, all right I know that I already speak English but its not the "Queen's English", it is definitely more like a crossover between hick and star wars nerd and Benson English :)
......Benson English is a language I promise. haha
So I thought I would do some asking around and some research to learn some new English words, and for posterities sake I thought I would write them all down here so that y'all could learn a few things also.
Donnies = Hands, "Go and wash your donnies"
A bit black over Bill's mothers = Likely to rain soon (now widespread). Commonly attributed to Black Country dialect: "Bill's mothers" features in a variety of forms - such as the reference to any obscure location being "the back of Bill's mothers"
Gunter = To fix, work on or repair, mainly used as a verb (example usage "I'm gonna gunter the car" equates to "I'm going to repair the car"), other forms include 'guntered' (example usage "the car's guntered" equates to "the car is fixed", alternate usage "I guntered the tele, but it still doesn't work" equates to "I worked on the television, but it is still broken")
Throw a paddy = To become sulky or have a tantrum (paddy being a stereotyped 'stroppy' Irishman; presumably relating to the Irish resistance to British rule
Snap = Food, a meal, allegedly derived from the act of eating itself (example usage "I'm off to get my snap" equates to "I'm leaving to get my dinner"). May also refer to the tin containing lunch, a "snap tin", as taken down the pit by miners
Yampy (often "dead yampy")= Mad, daft, barmy (also used is the word "Saft", as in "Yow big saft babbie").
Suff =Another word for drain, as in "put it down the suff
Rubbish = nonsense
Snogging = hahaha this one just sounds funny! This is making out
Post = mail
Happy Christmas = Merry Christmas :)
Father Christmas = Santa
NEVER say you have a bloody nose! That's like swearing....you have nosebleed. haha I'll have to be careful with that one :)
So the red ones I got from Dustin my brother-in-law and the purple ones I got from Harry Potter. haha The green one came from Babs....I don't even know how to spell her last name. She is a friend of the family from England.
I'll put more up as I learn them!!
